For aid watchers in New York, this post is a reminder of Development Research Institute’s upcoming conference this Friday, from 9 am to 2 pm, in NYU’s Kimmel Center.
Called “The Best and Worst of Aid: Incentives, Accountability and Effectiveness,” speakers and participants will present new findings and discuss and debate the best and worst of what happened in aid this year.
(According to some rumors, the irrepressible light-hearted side of DRI will give Oscar-style Best of Aid Awards – and of course, Worst of Aid Awards – in several important categories).

Andrew Mwenda is a fantastic commentator on aid and relief in Africa. He gains my respect because he is a stakeholder in the failures and/or successes of development in his country.
He gave a fantastic presentation at the TED Conference in Arusha, Tanzania during June 2007 on the topic of aid in Africa.

Will video recordings of the talk be available?
Given that Bill has already declared failed states to be “a failed concept” (http://aidwatchers.com/2010/01/top-5-reasons-why-%E2%80%9Cfailed-state%E2%80%9D-is-a-failed-concept/), I wonder what “Best” efforts you will be discussing in your 10am talk. Isn’t this a bit inconsistent with your previous views?
Andy, Hey, why should I only have people speak who agree with me? I believe in debate!
I second Russell’s comment: If there will be audio or video recordings available , please link them here!
Video would be great! Even a flip recording would be useful for those of us not in the US let alone in NY.
I think Hans Rosling’s GAPMINDER http://www.gapminder.org/ website deserves a mention somewhere, for those of us who can’t deal with statistics it makes them bearable not to mention colourful!
I third the request for audio or video links.
Yes, video and audio links on this please! Assume it will be posted under Aid Watch Resources [video]? Any chance you could let us know when it’s up?
